The Apartment

Named after the Chancel descent at La Grave La Meije and of course the mountain hut by the same name, this two bedroomed apartment offers a home from home for families and small groups. Apartment ‘Chancel’ is uniquely placed in the mountain village of Villar d’Arène, just below the cols of Lautaret and Galibier and only a few minutes drive from the infamous off piste mecca La Grave La Meije.

Chancel is on the first floor of a recently built residence and has views of the village, fields and mountains. The lounge has direct access to a sunny balcony where up to six can dine with comfort (you’ll love the hand-crafted seating), whether it be summer breakfasts or long lunches with friends.

The apartment is exceptionally equipped and comfortably furnished throughout with a mix of traditional and modern alpine styles. Upon entering you’re greeted with a handy ‘kit area’ for all your mountain gear, and immediate access to the open-plan, spacious kitchen, dining and living space. The lounge has two sofas plus further seating, TV/DVD player and an extensive library of local guide books for mountaineering, walking, climbing, mountain biking, ski touring and off piste skiing.

There are two bedrooms that sleep up to six guests comfortably without using sofa beds. The double bedroom has a king size sleigh bed and views of xxx. The second bedroom has two high quality bunk beds sleeping four in total, and also has TV/DVD and plenty of storage space.

Outside there is an all-weather ball court for football, basketball, badminton or tennis. Children can play freely and safely all year round – don’t miss the winter sledging and snowman building!

In the village you’ll find ski hire shops, restaurants and a takeaway outlet. Drive a few minutes and you find yourself in La Grave, with plenty of parking, supermarket, bars, restaurants and the Tourist Office.

Chancel and Villar d’Arène make a great base for off piste skiing holidays and active summer holidays – but it’s important to note that you can relax in this stunning environment too.
